Santa Barbara Pickleball Courts
Short Description
Quick Facts
Description
The Santa Barbara Municipal Tennis and Pickleball Center, serving the city since 1937 (originally a WPA project), runs up to 16 dedicated outdoor pickleball courts alongside 8 tennis courts, hitting walls, and a playground. Non-permit holders pay a $5-6 daily fee to a Parks & Recreation monitor, or can purchase an annual pass; open play follows a rotation system where winners of two consecutive games sit out. Since 2014, the non-profit Santa Barbara Pickleball group has partnered with the city to fund court expansions, flags, banners, and maintenance beyond the city’s budget, and runs youth/senior engagement programs through the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, and local schools, plus an annual charity tournament benefiting St. Jude, Shriners Hospital, and Make-A-Wish. It holds a 4.7 rating across 15 Google reviews.
